Stopgap time!

Right, so, I had plans to post a mixtape type jawn, but I need to redo it. So in the meantime, here are some 18th Century porcelain cats from China, as seen in the Palace of Fine Arts Museum. Once again, like a celebrity back in rehab, I’m trying to develop some kind of daily blogging habit. So this post will go up despite me not having much to say. Yay!
So… yeah… still unemployed at the moment, pursuing some potential contract jobs, and looking to volunteer for some local arts organizations to get myself out of the house and making contacts. Will update you as it happens, dear reader(s).*
The prime question of the moment for me is, I’ve been given this sort of break, a prime opportunity to stop and take a good look at the paths before me — what actions should I take to position myself for re-entry?
Very strange dreams lately as well, which means my subconscious is on the job. Speaking of which, s’after 2 am, so let’s put my subconscious to work. Hope you’re all doing well in internet land.
*by this I mean, mainly, myself.
Musing on Battle For The Cowl as Collapse of the Master Narrative
by admin on Mar.26, 2009, under Mediageek
Battle For The Cowl, if you don’t know, is a current DC Comics storyline about bunch of Gotham City vigilantes (and maybe Alfred, and Commissioner Gordon), fighting over who will be the next Batman now that Bruce Wayne is dead/sent back in time (I don’t know; ask Grant Morrison). This ramble was sparked off by a blog post (savblog? find, link) pointing out that with Huntress, Robin, Nightwing, Azrael etc all in the city, that the idea that Gotham would degenerate after one guy is gone doesn’t really hold water.
But maybe it does if you think about it in more illogical, more human terms: we’re talking about the mythology of The Bat, the force of order, like Hobbes’ Leviathan, holding sway to prevent Gotham from reverting to its natural state of chaos. As much as, or much more than, a person, The Bat is a socially engineered boogyman, a narrative that keeps order in the minds of Gotham’s populace.
BBC SPORT | Olympics | Fina cracks down on hi-tech suits

BBC SPORT | Olympics | Fina cracks down on hi-tech suits.
“Fina wishes to recall the main and core principle is that swimming is a sport essentially based on the physical performance of the athlete,” said a statement from swimming’s world governing body.
The first swimsuit to combine stitch-free, ultrasonically welded seams, water-resistant fabric and strategically-placed polyurethane panels (designed by Nasa), the LZR took the swimming world by storm last year.
At the Olympics in Beijing, LZR swimmers, most notably Michael Phelps, won 94% of the golds on offer and broke 23 of the 25 records set in the Cube.
But opponents of the hi-tech suits argue the buoyancy they create amounts to “technological doping”.
Aaaaand we are all cyborgs, no? The concept of ‘technological doping’ is interesting, problematic, and fascinating. I guess it’s the recognition that chemicals aren’t the only way an athlete can enhance their performance that grabbed me about this. It’s a preview of a very real problem that’s only going to continue as we intertwine our bodies with technology more and more intimately.

Here are a couple of logos I did for small business sites at Motorola. We made websites using templates in a proprietary tool as a starting point, and were required to do at least 2 sites a day. These are some of the logos that I liked.
